Vice President/ Historian
A little bit about myself, I came to America about four years ago from South Korea, and I went to a high school located in Winona, MN. In my free time, I usually cook, talk, sleep, listen to music, and workout, so if you share any interests with me and want to hang out with me, just hit me up! I really want to get to know more about you :)
Hello Nutrition Enthusiasts! My name is Whitney and I am currently a 3rd year Nutritional Sciences: Dietetics student. My hobbies consist of cooking, hiking, videography and photography. Recently I’ve gotten into editing and making short videos of recipes and travel related videos, which has allowed me to present my artsy ideas. I’m still an amateur at photography but hit me up for some photo session adventures.
The core reason that made me deeply interested in nutrition was all because of my father. Since I was young, my stubborn father has never listened to me for the benefit of his health; in fact, he always believed that he could consume any types of food from fast food to unneeded animal fat as long as he exercises. It was only until he got into an accident and found out from the doctor that he had significant risks associated with borderline health issues; he then started to listen to my advices. Even though I couldn’t diagnose or prescribe medicine for my father like a doctor does, I still wanted to be a source of help for his health. So I discovered implementing nutritious foods into his daily diet, it assisted my father and me to build a stronger bond with the help of nutritious meals. A lot has changed since my father improved his diet; he lost 20 pounds, gained muscle and noticed an improvement in his mental health. A happy father equated to a happy family. Since then I became deeply fascinated with the complex food branches; understanding the historical, socioeconomic, ecological, biological, political and environmental factors impacting the human diet.
I also invest my time as a member of the Berkeley Student Food Collectives; volunteer at the campus Food Pantry, and a volunteer in the program Kids in Nutrition where I educate elementary kids about nutrition. Catch me at other club meetings such as FST (Food Science and Technology) and GMT (Global Medical Training). I am beyond excited to be your treasurer this year!
Hi there, my name is Kanami. I'm a senior majoring in Nutritional Sciences-Dietetics and will be serving as SNAC's Dietetics Chair this year!
My belief is that the key to a fulfilling life is balance; I live by the idea of "everything in moderation" (except chocolate). Food is a big part of my balanced life, as is travel, and you can count on me to plan a whole trip around fun and fascinating food. Other things you'll find me doing include dancing, singing, listening to music, watching random videos, taking multitudinous photos, and sitting in the sun or taking a nap.
P.S. My personal favourite, must-try food item is the Strawberry Matcha Latte from Boba Guys in SF
Physiology and Metabolism Chair
Hi! My name is Phil and I am a 3rd Year Nutritional Science - Physiology & Metabolism major. I am also doing a minor in Applied Language Studies.
Two of the things that led me to majoring in Nutritional Science is the human body and food. The human body has fascinated me ever since I was young, and it continues to be! I love food, because that is what nourishes us on a day-to-day basis.
One of my favorite hobbies include cooking. Cooking is awesome because you get to control what is in your food and what tastes you want. If you want to cook with me, please message me!
